Although simple in its design uses high technology materials and as such should not be used in the same way as other instrument humidifiers on the market. The polymer core consists of a set of polymeric chains that are parallel to each other and regularly linked to each other by cross-linking agents, thus forming a network. When water comes into contact with one of these chains, it is drawn into the molecule by osmosis. Water rapidly migrates into the interior of the polymer network where it is stored as a solid. This is why you need to rest the Vertigo after soaking in water, to allow the water molecules time to lock together with the polymer creating a solid that will not harm your guitar. Now you can’t do that with other ‘between the strings’ guitar humidifiers! • Even if you drop it, shake it or throw it, it still won’t leak. • The Vertigo acoustic guitar humidifier is designed as the ultimate humidity delivery system for wooden instruments. Featuring a monofilament outer shell filled with a polymer core. User instructions STEP 1 Find a dish that is at least 300mm (12") long. Fill the container with clean tap water to at least 40mm deep. (NOTE:  Water level must exceed 40mm (1.75") in depth. Less will cause it to take longer to hydrate. STEP 2 Center the polymer core inside the Vertigo humidifier. STEP 3 Lay the Vertigo humidifier flat in the water and set an alarm for 40 minutes.† IMPORTANT! Any longer may cause the polymer to expand beyond the monofilament causing it to extrude. STEP 4 Leave for ~40 minutes. NOTE: If you leave the humidifier in the water too long, the polymer may extrude through the monofilament. This in itself isn’t a big problem. Just take it out of the water and let it dry out fully, then brush the dry polymer off with a cloth. STEP 5 Remove from your dish and dry. The Vertigo is not a sponge, it’s a high tech bit of kit you have in your hands. Squeezing it will damage the core. Gently dry off any excess water. And that’s it, you’re good to go.
