Aprilaire 4004 AP-4004 Humidifier In Line Strainer Water Filter This is a NEW Aprilaire Humidifier In Line Strainer. These New ones are all black or red plastic rather than the ones in the past that were white and black plastic also. It should be replaced annually for peak performance! Be sure to clean  ( Aprilaire part # AP-4007, AP-4021, AP-4231 or AP-4232) when you replace the In Line Strainer. The Aprilaire 4004 Humidifier Drain Type In-Line Strainer is a replacement part that is a small strainer that fits into the inlet fitting of your water solenoid valve.  The Aprilaire 4004 HumidifierDrain Type In-Line Strainer allows water to enter your humidifier or stops the water flow.  The Aprilaire 4004 Humidifier Drain Type In-Line Strainer is made to keep debris for entering the solenoid valve and needs to be checked at least once a year for mineral and grit build-up.  The Aprilaire 4004 Humidifier Drain Type In-Line Strainer is designed for use with Aprilaire models 110, 112, 220, 224, 350, 360, 400, 440, 445, 445A, 448, 550, 550A, 558, 560, 560A, 568, 600, 700, 760, 760A & 768. This in-line strainer is the tiny strainer that fits in the inlet fitting of the water solenoid valve which allows water to enter your humidifier or stops the water flow. The lengh of the strainer is approximately 1 inch long. This strainer is designed to keep debris from entering the solenoid valve and should be checked annually for the build-up of minerals and grit. Used in most Aprilaire models including 400, 500, 600, 700; Same for the Skuttle 000-1319-051 Strainer. Used in Honeywell HE360 HE365 HE265 HE260 HE225 HE220. Also its used in Skuttle humidifiers. 800 Humidifier WATER LINE INSPECTION AND SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS #4004 1. Disconnect electrical power to the HVAC and shut off water supply. 2. Disconnect the water line at the inlet compression nut. 3. Remove the in-line strainer from inside the inlet side of the valve by using a small nail or wire. 4. Replace with the new strainer, Part No. 4004. 5. Reconnect the inlet water line. Double Wrench to Prevent Leaking. 6. Disconnect the water feed tube at the outlet compression nut. 7. Inspect the water feed tube by gently flexing it and looking for cracks or signs of wear. Replace Tube  if it is cracked, brittle, or has been damaged. 8. Inspect the orifice in the water feed tube and make sure the small opening is unplugged. 9. Reconnect the water feed tube. Double Wrench to Prevent Leaking. 10. Remove the drain line from the bottom of the humidifier. If applicable, flex it to loosen any mineral deposits or blockages. Flush the drain line with water under pressure to clear it of any debris, and slip it back onto the drain Fitting. If drain line does not flow properly, replace it. Inspect the drain line to make  sure it has a constant downward slope and is not flattened or blocked. 11. Turn on water supply and reconnect electrical power to the HVAC.
